A new study by the National Center for Research on Education Access and Choice finds that Michigan students with disabilities who moved from traditional public schools to charter schools between 2013 and 2018 improved academically, raising math and reading scores alongside their peers. Gains occurred even with fewer intensive special education services, though oversight and student perspectives remain crucial.
